Get your physics nerd on....

I admit it; I'm kinda of a closet physics nerd. If you look at my grades in college you might disagree though. I blame Monkey Boy, he was there....it's his fault we drank beer instead of doing homework. Besides, I still think it was unfair to ask us how fast all the people on earth would have to run on the equator in order to stop the Earth from spinning. I don't do Doomsday Equations!!

However, I really dig shows on the Discovery Channel that are about physics. I've also been known to watch hour long videos from google videos on physics topics. I also read physics for game programmers books in my spare time. And I've been known to re-open my college physics book to entertain myself. I'm a nerd, I know!!

Well, to help cover my obsession with nerdiness, I found a new blog about physics. I figured I would share, physicsbuzz.blogspot.com. It's a new blog that can provide a good kick-off site for other more hardcore locations. Enjoy!!

Bad PC guy...bad...

Apparently it's that time of year that I do something stupid with my PC. This year it was typing/clicking to fast while on a site I know I should be careful on (my usual bit torrent site). I didn't see it coming, I'm just looking at a collection of links, and I click on what I think is whitespace to my window gets focus and the scroll button will work. I guess it wasn't "whitespace" I clicked on. Before I knew it I heard about 17 to 20 clicks and the adware/spyware was already hard at work.

I froze for about 5 seconds with the "wtf" face then reached over to my router and yanked the WAN connection. I'm guessing the connection was live for about 15 to 20 seconds between when I "clicked" and when I cut the connection. This was plenty of time to d/l at least 5 major installers of addware (gotta love that 5 mb connection).

So I've spent the majority of evening uninstalling all my software. Next stage is to migrate my save games and other data files off the machine. Which should take about 6 hours of transfering (2 drives @ approx 80gb each). Hopefully that will be done before I go to bed and I can reinstall my os after work tomorrow.

So I hang my head in shame. I know I did it. I know I make fun of the people that do it. But when you're on the net or playing in the "dirty" side of life, you have to expect to get mugged every once in a while, right?

On an unrelated note: I freakin hate the weather channel. For whatever reason, at all the times of the day I want to get the weather forcast, with exception to pre-9 am, there some show on talking about weather patterns or events from years past. "Thanks, I really needed to see a 1 hour show on firefighters helping with the clean up of hurricane Katrina. I honestly didn't want to see what the weather was currently like in my area. Go ahead and put on a show about cows in tornadoes next." Silly bastards.

Bed Chinese?

Just some advice:

If you happen to find yourself in Gardendale, AL ( a quiet little town north of Birmingham), reseit any urges you might have to eat "Chinese buffet". There's only one and it's on main street near the Blockbuster. It's a nice looking joint and is run by a truly asian family (I admit I'm not very up on my "tell one culture from another" training for asians). Unfortunately, it suffers from small-town-itis. There was only about 6 different types of food up for grabs and even those, while edible, were not spectacular. It's definitely worth driving down to Lakeshore Dr. to hit Mr. Wang's instead.

Accessed Denied!!!

Dear blog,
You suck! Why have you been unable to recognize my account for so long? For over a year I faithfully visited you and shared tidbits of life and philosophy. I was beginning to think we were friends, and now you treat me this way. Where's the love? WHERE'S THE DAMN LOVE I SAY!!!!?!?!?! Given this current predicament, I must hereby deny you any future fish-biscuits and you will be receiving coal in your stocking this December.
